Wine Review - 2004 Chateau de Nages Reserve
Since being raised in status from Vin De Pays to AC status in 1986, this region has been seeing more and more attention. The attention is warranted with much of the success a direct result of Robert Kacher’s presence in the region and commitment to excellence. With that said, this is not one of his imports however it is indeed one of my favorite producers (Michel Gassier) always at the top of his game. White gold in color, the nose is very aromatic displaying wonderful floral, ripe citrus and stone fruit notes. Eight weeks of aging on the lees contributes to a rounder mouth-feel adding depth and complexity to a fresh, lively wine. The palate reflects similar characteristics with pear and walnut skin joining the assemblage. Paired with Mahi Mahi with a spicy mango salsa and jasmine rice. |
