I was just thinking about how if I were to introduce someone to Petite Sirah, this would probably be the best wine to introduce them to first. Then I looked at the bottle and learned that the first Petite Sirah was made by Concannon about 40 years ago. An interesting

coincidence. This Petite Sirah isn’t showy in any way. It’s very approachable and I believe, would be enjoyed by cab and pinot lovers alike. The deep purple color is inviting enough. The slightly acidic nose might turn some away. But after tasting the wine, the delicate hints of green apple ending with a lasting apricot finish is enough to hold the attention of even the most finicky of wine lovers. A friend unfamiliar with Petite Sirahs called it “a real humdinger.” Boy, do I have a flight in mind for him!

In case you were wondering, I paired it with my own pecan/basil pesto, brown butter shrimp, and a promising Giants/Diamondbacks game where at the time, the Giants were leading 8-0. Awesome!
